If you’re building a church website, putting together a newsletter, or just want to have something to put in the top corner of an official looking letter; what you need, is a church logo. Many people know that having a custom logo designed is not an inexpensive endeavour, and I know that these days, congregations don’t have extra money to throw around on frivolities like logos. I also know that a logo can go a long way to adding a professional look to things like letterhead and websites.
Solution?
Here’s how you create a free custom church logo for your congregation:
Step 1
Find a good quality copy of your denominational logo.
You can do this by asking at the denominational office, or by using Google image search. You want to make sure that it is as large as you can ever see yourself needing a logo. If you plan on being creative with the logo and want different versions, see what your denomination has and take one of each. (I find it useful to have a version of the logo with a transparent background for some web use.)
Step 2
Add your churches name to the logo
Open the logo in you favourite graphic/picture editing program (even paint works).
Make your background, or canvas, bigger.
Pick a font that works with your logo.
And add your congregations name to the top, side or bottom, where ever you think it looks best.
That’s it. You have your free custom church logo and your congregation can now play with the big kids.
Got any other ways to customize denominational elements or resources? I’d love to hear about them.
